Where each one actually fits
USPTO TSDR
The authoritative record — if you already know the number
The USPTO's own API is free and first-party, and for pulling the status or prosecution history of a mark you’re already tracking it's unbeatable. What it doesn’t do is search: no name lookup, no fuzzy matching, no autocomplete. Putting it in front of a user means parsing daily bulk XML and running your own index.
MarkerAPI
Simple US lookups by fields you already know
The long-running independent USPTO API. Lookups by name, owner, serial and expiration date with exact/wildcard matching — a reasonable pick when your product is a known-field lookup and price is the deciding factor. No fuzzy search, autocomplete, similarity scoring or aggregates.
TrademarkNow & enterprise platforms
Full clearance workflows for legal teams
Corsearch's TrademarkNow and similar platforms are built for in-house counsel: multi-office coverage, watch services, opinion-grade reports, seats and contracts. If your problem is a legal department's workflow rather than a developer's API, that's their market — priced like it.
Don’t take the table’s word for it
Every claim above runs on the keyless tier — no account, no key, no email. Run your ugliest real queries through Markbase and whatever you’re using today; the fastest honest comparison is the one you run yourself.
